Man dead, others injured after car rolls

A man is dead, another is fighting for life and three others are injured after a car rolled in Townsville.

The vehicle they were travelling in was heading north on the Bruce Highway near Bluewater when it rolled about 5.30pm on Friday, police say.

A 39-year-old male passenger died at the scene. Four other occupants were taken to Townsville Hospital with one suffering life-threatening injuries.

Earlier on Friday, an elderly man was killed in a head-on crash south of Brisbane.

The accident happened on Johnson Road at Forestdale about 1.40pm.
