Driver charged after allegedly ramming police car, crashing into home

A 52-year-old man has been charged after allegedly ramming a police car and crashing into a home while the tenants were inside.

The incident occurred about 5pm on Wednesday when officers on patrol spotted a Volkswagen on Petrie Terrace, Brisbane.

Flagged as a vehicle of interest, police tried to stop the car on Pratten Street before it turned into a nearby cul-de-sac.

Moments before his arrest, 52-year-old Darren Jenkin allegedly rammed a police vehicle and slammed into an occupied house in an attempt to escape.

Renters Jo Buckley and Toby White were inside at the time of impact.

“We heard a very large crash noise and felt it through the wall,” Buckley said.

“We looked out the window, and we saw him down the street getting arrested.”

Neither the residents nor the police officers involved were injured.

Police allegedly found dangerous drugs and illicit weapons inside the car.

Jenkin has been charged with multiple offences, including endangering a police officer and aggravated dangerous driving.
