Donna Steele's family pay tribute

The brother of slain Queensland woman Donna Steele has made an impassioned plea for information about his sister's death.

Jason says the family is "absolutely devastated" and her two sons - aged eight and ten - miss her terribly after the body of the 42-year-old was found near Cooktown on Sunday.

"A lot of people knew Donna. She was a loved person around town, surely someone must know something," he said.

Even a "tiny" bit of information could help in finding answers to who committed this "horrible act", he said.

Police divers were expected to search the creek where her body was found on Wednesday afternoon.

Ms Steele was last seen at the local IGA about midday last Wednesday.

Detective Inspector Geoff Marsh said police believe she came home after her time in town, but did not know if that's where she died.

Insp Marsh said probably knew her killer.
