Don't vote for the LNP: solar council

The Palmer United Party rates above Queensland's Liberal Nationals when it comes to solar power policies, the Australian Solar Council says.

It's urging Queenslanders to vote for any party but the LNP, saying the Newman government has shown nothing but contempt for solar households.

Chief executive John Grimes says it's the first time the council has taken such a stance during an election campaign.

"Our remit is that we will support any party that supports good solar policy, but we've found that the Newman and Abbott governments combined are running a really dedicated campaign to close our industry down," he told AAP.

"We're not affiliated or aligned with any political party and I'm not an ex-trade union official or anything.

"This is not ideological. This is about good solar policy."

Mr Grimes claims 1500 jobs have been lost in the solar industry during the past year.

The council rated parties on their positions on the Renewable Energy Target. Only the LNP has been given a negative score.

The Greens released their solar policy last week. Labor and the LNP are yet to announce any commitments.

Comment has been sought from Mr Newman's office.

Queenslanders go to the polls on January 31.
