Deadly fire beats back Qld fire crews

Queensland firefighters who tried to rescue a man from his burning home on the Darling Downs have been beaten back by the flames.

The body of the man, aged in his 50s, was found in the home at Warwick after fire took hold about 6.40pm on Saturday.

Neighbouring properties had to be evacuated due to the ferocity of the blaze, which also prevented fire crews from getting inside to look for the man.
