Cyclist critical after hitting bush turkey

A road cyclist is fighting for his life after hitting a bush turkey in the Gold Coast Hinterland.
The 45-year-old man was travelling downhill when he struck the wild bush turkey and was thrown a "considerable distance" on Tomewin Mountain Rd, Currumbin Valley at 6.20am, say police.
He is at Gold Coast University Hospital with life threatening injuries.
