Crossbench MP demands in Qld

Queensland's three crossbench MPs potentially have the power to determine a minority government in Queensland. Here's where they stand:

* PETER WELLINGTON (INDEPENDENT FOR NICKLIN):

- Mr Wellington has decided to back Labor, telling leader Annastacia Palaszczuk it's on the condition that there is no "evidence of gross fraud, misappropriation or like illegal activities".

- He chose Labor over the Liberal National Party because he said the party offered more leadership stability, criticising the LNP's current leadership tussle that is seeing, among others, Health Minister Lawrence Springborg, Transport Minister Scott Emerson, Racing Minister Steve Dickson and Speaker Fiona Simpson vie for the LNP leadership.

- "Lawrence (Springborg) is one person. He is not able to totally control what happens in the Liberal National Party. I believe he's being undermined by people in his own party," Mr Wellington said.

- Mr Wellington supported Labor for several reasons, including its commitment to tighten electoral donation laws, including an inquiry into the link between donations and big business, and its promise to install an independent chair of the state's corruption watchdog.

* ROB KATTER AND SHANE KNUTH (KATTER'S AUSTRALIAN PARTY):

- The Katter party MPs say they want to wait until more seats are decided in the tight election race, suggesting Mr Wellington made up his mind too early.

- KAP MPs insist they aren't leaning one way or another.

- Mr Knuth says both are in talks with the electorates and local councils about their decision.

- Mr Katter says their party has a "developmentalism" policy platform, focusing specifically on rural and regional Queensland.

- "To me there is no clear mandate there for anyone. So that leaves us in the position where we can deliver something for Queensland. We have the leverage to deliver the Galilee Basin and ethanol industry, jobs, investment in infrastructure that will build Queensland," Mr Katter said.
