Qld premier fronts media for absent Miller

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk insists she has confidence in "all her ministers" despite her embattled police minister continuing to hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

The latest scandal surrounding Jo-Ann Miller's conduct revolves around accusations she tried to orchestrate a mayoral coup in Ipswich to remove Paul Pisasale.

The claim was made in an affidavit signed by Ipswich Deputy Mayor Victor Attwood.

She allegedly told Mr Attwood to act because Mr Pisasale would "end up in jail", the Queensland Times reports.

At the time, the mayor was under investigation by the Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) - although he was later cleared of any wrongdoing - and Ms Miller was the deputy chair of the parliamentary committee overseeing the corruption watchdog.

Ms Miller flatly denied the allegation in parliament on Friday but didn't attend a news conference alongside the premier and Mr Pisasale on Saturday.

She had been to an earlier media opportunity with the premier that day but didn't field questions from reporters.

Asked about her absence, Ms Palaszczuk said Ms Miller was likely visiting her ill father in hospital.

"I have confidence in all of my ministers," she said when asked about her faith in Ms Miller's professionalism.

"But I have very high standards."

She denied the qualification suggested Ms Miller wasn't meeting this benchmark.

Unsurprisingly, the state opposition seized on the minister's latest apparent bungle and said she must answer questions about her conduct.

"Today is the chance for (her) to show if she's going to answer questions or if she's just going to hide behind the skirts of Annastacia Palaszczuk," deputy opposition leader John-Paul Langbroek said.

"She hasn't actually answered the question - did she conspire or talk to people about trying to bring Paul Pisasale down?"

Meanwhile, Mr Attwood has expressed a desire to make a private citizen's right of reply and stand by his claims.

He told AAP he was waiting for the appropriate forms to arrive from parliament to apply to lodge his statement.
