Missing Qld woman left phone: police

A woman who disappeared from the scene of a Brisbane car crash left her mobile phone behind when she accepted a ride from a passing driver, police say.

Springbrook woman Mihiata Bruce, 45, crashed her Corolla into a roadside barrier about one kilometre north of the Old Cleveland Road exit at Belmont last Wednesday around 12.10pm.

She hasn't been seen since she got into a white ute that had stopped at the scene of the accident.

"We are aware there was another vehicle that had stopped to assist as well, so we're pleading with those people to come forward," Detective Inspector Rod Kemp said on Monday.

"What's of concern ... we know she did hit the rail quite hard, so she may well be injured."

Det Kemp said there was no sign of a struggle at the scene and that Ms Bruce had left some personal items, including her phone, in the damaged vehicle.

"It's concerning from a number of fronts," he said.

It was out of character for Ms Bruce, a married woman with two teenage children, not to be in touch with her family for so long, he said.

"We'd like anyone who witnessed that accident or her whereabouts to come forward."

Ms Bruce is described as about 165 centimetres tall with a slim build, brown hair and hazel eyes.
