Cops punched and choked in central Qld

Three police officers used tasers to fend off two attackers who punched and choked them during an arrest in central Queensland.

The officers were investigating an armed robbery at a house in Slade Point north of Mackay late Tuesday when they tried to arrest a 25-year-old man on an unrelated matter.

It's alleged a 40-year-old man and 22-year-old woman reacted by punching and choking all three officers before being tasered.Police also allege the woman also swung a stick.

Both were charged with serious assault of police and were due to appear in Mackay Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

The man originally targeted for arrest fled on foot and remains on the run despite police using dogs to try and track him down.

One of the three officers, a male sergeant, suffered minor injuries during the fracas.
