Cops offer $100k reward in brawl bash case

A $100,000 reward is being offered to anyone who can provide crucial information about the serious assault of a female Queensland Police officer in Townsville a decade ago.

Senior Constable Tenelle Luscombe was hit in the head by an unknown person on July 4, 2007, when she and her partner were trying to defuse a large brawl inside a Flinders Street night club.

Sen Const Luscombe said the job had seemed routine until she arrived to find up to 80 people fighting.

The then 26-year-old suffered had to undergo reconstructive facial surgery and long-term rehabilitation.

"I'd fractured my cheekbone, my eye socket, my eye socket was shattered, I had nerve damage and also the top of my jaw was fractured," she said on Monday.

Her attacker remains unaccountable.

"I think it is important that the person responsible was caught," she added.

"I think someone out there knows who did it and I'm hoping that they come forward."

Queensland Police say the reward will be given to anyone who can help secure a conviction of the person responsible for the attack.

Chief Superintendent Kev Guteridge said investigations into the assault had been protracted and complex.

"Over the past 10 years, detectives have conducted extensive inquiries and interviewed at least 100 witnesses but the matter remains unsolved," he said.
