Five boys aged nine to 13-years-old have been charged with 61 offences after a three-month crime spree in far-north Queensland.

The charges included attempted arson, endangering property by fire, graffiti, trespass, stealing and threatening violence, police said on Thursday.

Officers from the Mooroobool Police Beat began investigating the boys' activities in June using CCTV and forensic examination after members of public contacted them.
