Two men who allegedly bashed another man at a house party south of Brisbane have had their charges upgraded to murder following the victim's death last week.

The 37-year-old man died last Wednesday, four days after he was allegedly attacked by a group of five men in Beenleigh on May 20.

Two of those men, Kawana Renae Pinikera, 36, and a 17-year-old, faced Beenleigh Magistrates Court last week charged with grievous bodily harm but police say their charge were upgraded on Tuesday.

Both men, who did not apply for bail and have been remanded in custody, are due back in court on Tuesday.

Police say the 37-year-old man was assaulted in the front yard of a property in Aragon Street, Beenleigh.

It was alleged the group of men fled the scene when other occupants at the residence interrupted the assault.

The man returned to his home but his condition deteriorated and he was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital the following day.

Detectives continue to appeal for anyone who may have witnessed the attack or know what sparked it.
