Car rams through Brisbane home narrowly missing three sleeping residents

Three Brisbane residents have narrowly avoided serious injury after a car rammed through their home in the middle of the night.

The out-of-control car ploughed into the Runcorn property at 1.30am while the three people slept inside.

The vehicle crashed into the home, driving through the lounge room, crashing through the side wall before coming to a stop in the back garden.

Residents in the area said the corner is notorious for accidents and the house in question has been hit before.

One neighbour said he believed it was “only a matter of time” before the dangerous corner caused a fatality.            

The home, which has suffered severe structural damage, will be assessed by engineers today.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital suffering minor injuries. Police interviewed him and took a blood alcohol test.
