Cairns woman punched in head for phone

A young woman has been punched in the back of the head by a robber who took her mobile phone in Cairns.

The robber took the phone from the 18-year-old's pocket when she was walking with another girl, 15, in Earlville just before 7pm on Monday night.

When the woman tried to recover her phone she was thrown to the ground and punched in the head, leaving her with minor injuries. The bandit has not been caught.
