Bushfire approaches houses on Qld island

A large bushfire on an island off southeast Queensland has been contained, ending the need for residents to leave their homes.

Five fire crews are at Tim Sheas Wetland Reserve on Macleay Island to strengthen containment lines with back burning operations being conducted nearby.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services says residents will be affected by a smoke haze and are advised to close windows and doors.
