Brisbane set for 'pleasant' weekend: BOM

It's not quite winter but Queenslanders are reaching for their cardigans as cooler temperatures sweep the state's southeast.

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Andrew Bufalino said Brisbane was in for a "pleasant" weekend with the mercury to peak in the mid-20s on Saturday and Sunday.

Mr Bufalino said the nights would continue to remain around 15C into next week as part of the creep towards winter.

"This is classic autumn weather," Mr Bufalino said.

Brisbane's sky is also forecast to stay clear except for the odd shower in the bay.

It comes after a sweltering summer for most of the state, with a number of official heatwaves and some regional centres recording their hottest-ever days.
