Brisbane drivers ripped off in June: RACQ

Brisbane motorists coughed up more for unleaded petrol in June than drivers in any other capital.

So says the RACQ, which found motorists paid 144 cents a litre on average for unleaded petrol last month.

This exceeded the next highest price of 142.8 cents a litre in Hobart, and the lowest price of 134.5 cents a litre in Darwin.

The high Brisbane prices were "completely unjustified" and unfair on Sunshine State motorists, said RACQ spokeswoman Renee Smith.

"With prices higher than other capital cities, it's more important than ever to shop around," she advised motorists.

But there is some good news on the horizon - the price cycle should enter its cheap phase this week.
