Brisbane bus drivers to stop work again

Some Brisbane City Council bus drivers will again stop work as a series of meetings are held over their prolonged pay, safety and rostering disputes.

From 11am until 1pm on Wednesday drivers at the Eagle Farm depot will meet with Rail, Tram and Bus Union secretary Tom Brown, who told AAP he will visit all seven depots across the city ahead of an EBA meeting with the council next Tuesday.

The parties have had lengthy discussions during the stalemate but no agreement has been reached, with the council proposing a 2.5 per cent pay rise each year for three years while the union is seeking 3.5 per cent.

Mr Brown says they also want better rosters and improved safety for drivers in the EBA, not in a policy which council could change whenever it wants.

"They want their safety to be non-negotiable," Mr Brown said.

As part of the union campaign, drivers have carried out multiple strikes over the past six weeks and refused to collect fares.

Mr Brown said no further industrial action had been planned but may be discussed depending on Tuesday's negotiations.
