Boy becomes trapped inside skill-tester machine at Queensland shopping centre

A young boy’s quest for a new toy has turned into a nightmare after he became trapped in a skill-tester machine at a Queensland shopping centre.

The child climbed into the collection chute at Mt Sheridan Plaza, south of Cairns, just after 5pm yesterday.

Onlookers tried to calm the distressed boy, who was eventually freed after a nerve-wracking 30 minutes inside the claw machine.

Video from the scene shows the youngster standing inside the game as adults attempt to free him.

One bystander can be heard struggling to suppress his laughter.

“It’s not funny…but it is,” he said.
