Boy, 15, dies after Gold Coast ute fall

A 15-year-old boy who fell from the rear tray of a ute on the Gold Coast has died in hospital.

A charge laid against another teenager who was allegedly driving the vehicle is expected to be upgraded at the boy's court appearance, police said.

Emergency workers were called to Larne Avenue in Bundall about 1am on Sunday.

They found the injured boy, who had struck his head. He had been with a group of teenagers, according to police.

The boy was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital but later died.

A 16-year-old Bundall boy was charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing grievous bodily harm and unlicensed driving.
