Police probe mysterious death in Qld

A man's body found on the side of a Queensland highway may have been there for some time.

It's believed the body, which was found near the Isis Highway at Branyan near Bundaberg, is that of a man in his 50s.

Emergency services were called to the scene about 7am Wednesday, a Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman says.

Police are trying to work out what had happened to the man, whose body may have been there for some time.

"At this point in time we really don't know," Detective Inspector David Briese told the Bundaberg News Mail.

Officers remain at the scene.
