Review used to repeal bikie laws: oppn

The real aim of a review of Queensland's controversial anti-bikie laws is to repeal them, the opposition believes.

Opposition police spokesman Jarrod Bleijie says the task force conducting the review has been stacked with legal representatives, and he has taken umbrage that bikie victims and community members are not represented at all.

The former attorney-general, an architect of the Vicious Lawless Association Disestablishment Act, claims this is because the state government's goal is to repeal the laws and "roll out the red carpet for criminals".

"The attorney-general (Yvette D'Ath) says the laws are flawed," Mr Bleijie said.

"The only flawed thing here is the process, the review is flawed and the people on the panel don't represent the majority of Queenslanders.

"But I suspect it was set up that way so the government gets the answers they want.

"We know the ultimate goal is for those laws to be gone."

Mr Bleijie said if the government was serious about finding out whether the laws were effective, it would give those in the community affected by the organised criminal gangs seats on the review panel.

He said the measures were obviously working because the South Australian Labor government was considering bringing in similar laws.
