Bandit with machete threatens Qld publican

A bandit disguised in a mask and motorcycle helmet threatened a publican with a machete at a Queensland pub before fleeing with cash, police say.

The robbery took place at a hotel in Lawnton, north of Brisbane, in the early hours of Saturday.

"Around 1.35am a man entered the Gympie Road premises and threatened the attendant with a machete, demanding money," a statement from police said.

The publican wasn't harmed and the man ran off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The man was wearing a blue motorcycle jacket, a helmet and a mask and is described as being of slim build and about 175cm tall.
