Baby's birth was concerning, inquest told

The inquest into a baby's death at Queensland's largest hospital has heard a doctor did not share her concerns about the birth because she did not want to "look silly".

Nixon never breathed on his own after suffering significant head injuries during a caesarean at Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in June 2014.

The Brisbane Coroners Court has heard the injuries were most likely caused when a midwife used her finger to try and free his head from the mother's pelvis.

A fifth-year obstetric registrar said on Tuesday she was initially concerned Nixon's caesarean would be difficult but did not raise that with her superior who believed the baby would not be "hard to get out".

"I thought it might make me look silly," the registrar said.

The registrar also turned down the superior's offer of help in surgery twice and said they did not have a good working relationship, although the obstetrician later disputed that.

The inquest continues.
