A ten-month-old girl is in a Brisbane hospital after swallowing a small button battery.

She was taken from a Brisbane bayside home to Lady Cilento Children's Hospital in a stable condition on Tuesday afternoon, an ambulance spokesman said.

Earlier this month, a Queensland coroner recommended small batteries be plastic coated following an inquiry into the death of four-year-old Sunshine Coast girl Summer Steer, who swallowed a 2cm lithium battery in 2013.
