Search launched for man, 83, who disappeared boating south of Brisbane

A search has been launched for an 83-year-old man missing after going boating south of Brisbane.

Acacia Ridge man Andy Tillema was expected to return about 3pm on Wednesday but hadn’t been seen by 10pm, when police launched a public callout to help find him.

He was last seen about 12pm at the Carbrook Boat Ramp, about 30 kilometres south of Brisbane on the edge of the Logan River in Logan. 

Police said his vehicle and boat trailer were left there but there was no sign of Tillema or his 15-foot Clark aluminium boat with a Yamaha motor.

Marine Rescue Queensland and the Coastguard joined police, including water police and Polair, in a search for the man on Wednesday.

Police said they’d also tried to contact Tillema and his family without success.
