Accused Korean killer's trial delayed
A Brisbane man accused of murdering a South Korean woman will spend more than a year in custody before his case can be heard in the Mental Health Court.
Alex Reuben McEwan, 20, was arrested in November 2013 after the body of 22-year-old Eunji Ban was found in Wickham Park, in Brisbane's city centre.
His case has been on hold to resolve questions about McEwan's mental state and his capacity to stand trial.
During a brief hearing in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Thursday, McEwan's legal aid lawyer requested the matter be pushed back until March 2015.
She said the earliest her client's case could be heard in the Mental Health Court was February.
Magistrate Chris Callaghan set the matter down for mention on March 5, 2015, and remanded the accused in custody.
