Accused killer slams case on Facebook

Accused murderer Gable Tostee has used social media to declare his innocence, saying the case is "sheer lunacy" and is ruining his life.

Tostee says New Zealand tourist Warriena Wright, who he met on dating app Tinder, caused her own death in August last year.

"I never harmed that girl nor intended for her to get hurt in any way, let alone ever imagined that it would end in such a horrific way," he wrote on Facebook on Tuesday night.

Tostee said he had been painted as a "fictional monster" by the media.

"I may not be a saint, but I have never harmed anybody, nor would I ever dream of hurting a woman and everyone who knows me personally knows I am nothing like the villain fabricated by the media," he wrote.

Tostee penned the social media declaration just days after he was released from jail after serving a 10-month sentence for leading police on a high-speed police pursuit following a music festival in Byron Bay in July last year.

He was jailed for that offence while on bail for the alleged murder of Ms Wright.

He will next face court in relation to the murder charge on September 30.
