6kg baby breaks records at Qld hospital

Oh, baby! A bub weighing more than six kilograms has been born in a Queensland hospital.

Little Jake McGuire weighed in at 6.04 kilograms after being born at Ipswich Hospital on Tuesday afternoon.

He's the biggest baby on the hospital's records and well above the national average.

"It was very exhausting, so glad to have him out," mother Nicole told the Nine Network.

"I had a feeling he was going to be a big boy - didn't realise that big."

She said Jake was a "gorgeous big boy", if not a little heavy to carry around.
