Queensland man in police custody over assault, two attempted carjackings

A man who assaulted two Brisbane security guards and attempted two carjackings is in custody, police say.

The man allegedly assaulted the security guards when they confronted him for acting suspiciously at an Indooroopilly shopping centre this afternoon.

He then attempted to steal a red car being driven by a man on Station Road before getting into a black car being driven by a woman.

The 22-year-old man was unsuccessful in his effort and ran away but was caught by police a short time later.

Witnesses, including the two drivers, are being asked to contact police.
