Queensland government takes doctors to court

The feud between Queensland doctors and the state government over contracts is moving to a new battleground.

Lawyers for the state will appear before the Federal Court on Wednesday to try to stop doctors' groups and others spreading "misinformation" about proposed new contracts.

Some doctors and unions claim the contracts will strip employment protections and potentially compromise patient care.

But the government says they're being misleading and has applied for an injunction to silence the Australian Medical Association and two unions.

It has taken issue with a website called "Keep Our Doctors" and an advertisement that warns of the collapse of the public health system.

Lawyers for Queensland Health and the State of Queensland claim the parties have broken consumer laws by engaging in misleading conduct.

A hearing is scheduled in the Federal Court in Brisbane on Wednesday morning.
