A second case of deadly coronavirus has been confirmed in Queensland as a 42-year-old Chinese national travelling from Wuhan, the epicentre of the outbreak.

The woman was a member of the same tour group as a 44-year-old man confirmed on Wednesday as Queensland's first coronavirus patient.

Authorities are tracking down passengers that shared a flight from Melbourne to the Gold Coast with the two infected patients, as well as guests who stayed in the same hotel.

Seven members of the same tour group have been isolated as a precautionary measure.

Both coronavirus patients have been isolated in the Gold Coast University Hospital and are in stable conditions.

Queensland has joined other states in demanding anyone who has recently returned from Wuhan isolate themselves for 14 days after their departure from the city.

There have now been nine confirmed coronavirus cases across Australia.
