Qld boy, 5, fatally struck by car driven by father

A five-year-old boy has been struck and killed by a car driven by his father in Brisbane's west.

Police say preliminary information indicates the child was run over after he walked in front of the vehicle on Brookfield Road at Brookfield about 4pm on Sunday.

The boy suffered critical injuries and was rushed under police escort to the Royal Brisbane Children's hospital but was later pronounced dead.

Investigations into the accident by the Forensic Crash Unit are continuing.
