Qld abuse victim told 'get on with life'

An abuse victim who became frustrated with the response from the principal of an elite Brisbane school to his complaint was encouraged to "get on with his life", an inquiry has heard.

The child abuse royal commission has heard former counsellor Kevin John Lynch sexually abused a significant number of boys during counselling sessions at the Anglican-run St Paul's School and the prestigious Brisbane Grammar School.

Former St Paul's student BSB told the commission his allegations of abuse were ignored by then principal Gilbert Case.

The inquiry heard former general manager for the Anglican Diocese of Brisbane Bernard Yorke recorded BSB's concerns about Mr Case's response in an October 1998 confidential note.

The commission heard Mr Yorke wrote: "I encouraged him to keep the details of his complaint to himself and his immediate family and get on with his life."

It was an inhumane and insensitive response, former Anglican archbishop of Brisbane and governor-general Peter Hollingworth told the commission.

Mr Yorke, the inquiry's final witness, will give evidence via videolink from Brisbane to a commission sitting in Melbourne from 16.30 AEDT on Monday.

Mr Case, the principal of St Paul's from 1979 to 2000, has denied he had an attitude of dismissing and ignoring persistent complaints about two pedophile staff members.

Lynch killed himself in 1997, a day after being charged with child sex offences, the inquiry heard.
