Dubai 46-hour delay ‘very unusual’ says Qantas

Qantas has described an almost two day delay for passengers on their way back to Sydney from Dubai as “very unusual” as travellers are now in the air on their way to Australia.

Flight QF2 left London on schedule but was delayed in Dubai on Monday due to a fault with the A380’s air-conditioning system.

A further engineering issue yesterday meant the flight faced additional delays, leaving passengers stranded for up to 46 hours before Qantas “commissioned an A380” from partner Emirates to get them back to Sydney. They arrive in the city at 7.50pm tonight.

A Qantas spokesperson apologised for the delays.

“We appreciate this has been an extremely frustrating time for passengers and apologise sincerely,” they said.

“Delays like this are very unusual, and very regrettable, but we will always put safety before schedule.”

The stranded travellers took to social media to condemn Qantas’ lack of communication over the lengthy delay.
