Christopher Pyne is set to become defence minister in the Turnbull government, it has been reported.
Mr Pyne, who backed Malcolm Turnbull for the leadership on Monday, will spearhead the coalition's efforts to retain seats in South Australia based on major defence projects such as submarines.

The Advertiser reported South Australian MPs were critical to Mr Turnbull's win, with seven out of 11 voting for him.
