Push to recruit more men for nursing and teaching jobs in Australia

More men will hopefully be recruited for nursing and teaching jobs under a new "bloke quota" set by Australia’s Workforce Gender Equality Agency.
The federal government body has said schools and hospitals should mimic mining and rail industries, which set up quotas to hire women.
Agency director Libby Lyons told The Daily Telegraph the push for "man power" in "women’s work" would help to facilitate change.
"Until we encourage more men into teaching we’re not going to see little boys feel more secure and thrive as we do little girls," Ms Lyons told the Telegraph.
"There’s no diversity of thought or innovation happening there in the classroom if we are solely relying on females, particularly in primary school."
Nine out of 10 nurses and 69 percent of full-time teaching staff are women, according to 2011 Australian Bureau of Statistics figures.
