Push to ban super trawlers
AAP
Recreational fishermen are demanding the federal government ban super trawlers from some Australian waters.
A group from the Stop the Trawler alliance will meet with Liberal MPs in Canberra on Tuesday to hand over a petition with more than 200,000 signatures.
The push comes months after it was revealed that the super trawler Geelong Star killed four dolphins and two seals in one trip after a temporary ban on trawlers lapsed.
