Punk singer decks security thug

The lead singer for the punk-pop outfit The Story So Far has stood up for his fans after watching a security guard at the Montreal leg of the Vans Warped Tour manhandling members of the crowd.

The group were in the middle of their track 'Daughters' when a fan crowdsurfed over the barrier and was hurled back into the crowd by an overzealous member of the security team.

Singer Parker Cannon and guitarist Will Levy immediately stopped playing and jumped off the stage to confront the guard.

Other members of the security team can be heard telling Cannon to "calm down" as he faces off with the guard. The situation was eventually defused and the group finished their set without further incident.

Warped Tour promoter Kevin Lyman implicitly sided with the band and fans in a Twitter response to the altercation.

"Understand at each show the local venue has over 100 local security, we do our best to work with them, sometimes there is a bad egg," he said.

Lyman added that "No-one said [Parker] was wrong" to do what he did.
