Protesters urge more public school funding

Teachers union officials will descend on Parliament House in Canberra on Thursday to demand more funding for public schools.

Almost 11,000 people have signed an open letter expressing serious concerns about funding levels, with the Australian Education Union claiming almost $2 billion is being cut from state schools this year and next.

The thousands of names have been sketched onto a six-metre long banner to be unfurled on the lawns of Capital Hill.
