Australian cricketers back on top after win against South Africa

James Faulkner hit a boundary to give Australia a two-wicket victory with five balls to spare in a tense finish to the fifth one-day international against South Africa in Sydney.

The Australians moved to the top of the ICC one-day rankings by reaching a rain-reduced target of 275 for eight after the Proteas had scored 280 for six. They won the series 4-1.

South African star Faf du Plessis provided his teammate with the easiest of catches after an incredibly athletic assist on the boundary line.

Footage of Aaron Finch’s remarkable dismissal shows the hard-hitting opener smash a lofted cover drive off spinner Robin Peterson.

Fielding at long-off, du Plessis charges to his left and takes the catch over his head as he heads toward the boundary.

It is then that he shows remarkable awareness and poise by back-flicking the ball up to his teammate, Rilee Rossouw, who pockets the easiest of catches after running around from the cover boundary.

Such was the brilliance of du Plessis, that the bowler Peterson can be seen saying an apology of sorts to Finch.
