Property seized as police attempt to solve 40-year-old triple murder case

Vincent O'Dempsey wasn't around today when police raided his home and alpaca farm.

Officers equipped with shovels and sniffer dogs seized property in the search for evidence relating to the murder of the Barbara McCulkin and her daughters Vicki and Leanne more than four decades ago.

The McCulkins disappeared from their Highgate Hill home in January 1974.

After an inquest in 1980, Vincent O'Dempsey and associate Garry Dubois were charged with murder.

A year later, those charges were dropped.

Police haven't arrested or charged Vincent O'Dempsey, but do want to interview him.

For decades it was thought the McCulkins were murdered to cover up who was really behind the 1973 firebombing of the Whiskey-Au-Go-Go nightclub that killed 15 people.

Now, 40 years on, police say today is a turning point.
