Prince Harry and pop queen Rihanna have taken a test for HIV on World Aids Day to raise awareness about the importance and ease of regular check-ups.

The 32-year-old British royal has spent time in Barbados learning of their success “eradicating mother to baby HIV transmission”, and was joined by the Barbados-born singer in his quest to highlight how easy it is to get tested.

Kensington Palace tweeted a video of the pair getting their fingers pricked, with 28-year-old Rihanna teasing the prince that he “made it seem like it hurt”.

The Barbados National HIV/AIDS Commission’s ‘Man Aware’ event, held in Bridgetown, aims to reduce stigma around HIV.

Prince Harry also attended a Toast the Nation event in the capital to celebrate the country’s 50 years of independence, which Rihanna attended.

Prince Harry’s campaign for HIV/AIDS awareness follows the legacy of his mother, Princess Diana, who also advocated to increase awareness around testing and treatment.
