Premiers respond to terror laws

WHAT PREMIERS SAID ON PLANS TO THROW AWAY THE KEY FOR TERRORISTS

* NSW Premier Mike Baird supports anything that provides extra community protection - "We have to do everything possible to keep our community safe."

* Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews wants to see the detail - "There is very strong agreement that we need to develop and give to our police and national security agencies the resources they need and the powers they need."

* Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk will listen to what the prime minister has to say - "I think you will see an agreement from all the states in relation to that."

* South Australian Premier Jay Weatherill is prepared to support it if there are proper safeguards - "We're dealing with an unprecedented threat."

* Western Australia Premier Colin Barnett believes there'll be agreement over the terrorism issues - "There's no dispute over that."
