Premier Newman stands firm beside Queensland power sale plan

Talking about jobs and a stronger economy, Queensland premier Campbell Newman got back to his country roots on a property near Rockhampton during the day’s campaigning.
However, there are seeds of doubt over the government’s assets plan.
Queensland plans to lease an entire network of power stations, in a market where the NSW government is having trouble finding a buyer for just one.

“We would retain assets that are under our control if we weren’t getting that full value,” Mr Newman said.
The Premier says not only will there be a buyer, they will pay more than is needed.
“We will ensure that we get top dollar,” he said.
Treasurer Tim Nicholls also said he believed the market would respond well.Share a tip-off, video or photo with us
