Powered parachutist crash lands in front of stunned crowd outside Queensland pub

The glider suddenly emerges from the distance, the parachute’s motor buzzing as the pilot approaches a casual crowd – but within minutes it’s all gone awry, with a sharp crash into the ground near some trees.

Fortunately the Queensland pilot escaped without injury after the incident yesterday afternoon near the Kuttabul Hotel, north of Mackay.

A nearby punter captured the dramatic crash landing on film and posted it to her Facebook page with the caption, “Check out this muppet”.

The video shows the aircraft flying low over the crowd who were in attendance for the annual Big Boar competition, a wild pig hunt.

The crowd gasps as the parachutist glides overhead, before sharply clipping trees and crashing into the ground.

A nearby quad bike was the only casualty after it was damaged by some falling debris.
