Powerball jackpots to $100 million, third highest prize this year

Powerball has jackpotted to $100 million after another week without anyone winning the top prize.

Next Thursday's $100 million draw is the third biggest prize offered in Australia this year, according to officials from the Lott.

It is also the sixth-biggest jackpot in Australian lottery history.

There were no division one winners of tonight's draw, but 1,603,204 winning claims on more than $32.13 million in divisions two to nine.

Among those were six division two winners, who each claimed a $149,108 prize.

The Lott says it expects up to half of Australian adults to buy an entry in next week's draw.

"It's been nearly three months since Powerball last offered $100 million to Australian lottery players. On that occasion, no one won the prize, and it eventually grew to $150 million," said the Lott spokesperson Anna Hobdell.

"An Adelaide man took home the entire $150 million prize in May and immediately became Australia's biggest individual lottery winner.

"We're eagerly anticipating whether this draw will produce another division one winner or if the jackpot will continue to climb, repeating history once more."

The winning numbers in Powerball draw 1474 on Thursday, August 15 were 18, 11, 28, 1, 12, 16 and 8, and the Powerball was 15.

Last year 20 Powerball division one winning entries claimed more than $552 million in prize money, the Lott said.

Eight were in NSW, seven in Victoria, two each in South Australia and Western Australia, and one in Queensland.
