Possible wet weather to hit Sydney despite spring dry spell

Sydney is hoping for some wet weather this week despite being in the midst of its longest spring dry spell in 29 years.

A few thirsty gardens and lawns across the Sydney Basin were treated to a brief drink on Sunday night and yesterday morning as a low pressure trough moved over eastern NSW. Unfortunately, not all suburbs managed to get wet.

The rain gauges across the city remain low, although Parramatta managed to record 1.0mm from 9am yesterday.

With only 0.2mm of rain recorded at Observatory Hill between the start of September until yesterday, Sydney is currently experiencing its driest start to spring on record.

Today is expected to be cloudy with minimal rain, but showers are forecast to develop from late tomorrow and stick around until next week.
