Another patient with Ebola-like symptoms has reportedly been admitted to a US hospital.

A Howard University Hospital spokeswoman has confirmed they have hospitalised a man who recently recently travelled to Nigeria.

The man had symptoms that could be associated with Ebola, USA Today reported.

"In an abundance of caution, we have activated the appropriate infection control protocols, including isolating the patient," the hospital said in a statement.

"Our medical team continues to evaluate and monitor progress in close collaboration with the CDC and the Department of Health."

The World Health Organisation's latest data indicated 7178 had been infected in the west African Ebola outbreak, with 3338 reported deaths.

Recently, a Texas man and Liberian national, Thomas Duncan, was hospitalised and his family quarantined after he tested positive to the lethal virus.

It was believed Mr Duncan could have come into contact with up to 80 people before he was hospitalised.
